Very easy! We recommend a five-minute speaker briefing, plus a quick click-through rehearsal of the questions before the show starts. For more complex formats (quizzes or game shows) allow extra rehearsal time for slick delivery.
All responses can be collected anonymously. This helps the more nervous delegates and ensures honest answers to difficult questions. However, each keypad has a unique identity, so it is possible to track responses by demographic and then filter results by responses to other questions. Also, matching the keypad’s identity to its allocated delegate enables individual responses to be logged (e.g. during an assessment and quizzes).
Yes, it just takes a few minutes to create new voting slides or amend existing questions. We prefer to make changes during the breaks so that we can check them. However, ad hoc questions can be dropped-in if necessary.
One minute is enough for most questions. But we recommend that for more in-depth questions, hosts allow time to examine and discuss the different results.
Crystal provides a PowerPoint format report for all of the voting questions. Results are shown as charts. We also provide an Excel file which shows the number of votes for each answer option, as well as data on individual keypad responses to each vote.
It takes just a few minutes to set up our laptops. But we prefer a minimum of 60 minutes’ preparation, to allow time for technical checks and rehearsals. For larger events, additional time may be needed to distribute keypads and we would welcome the help of event staff to distribute (and collect) the keypads.
We bring everything necessary to operate the voting system on-site, including the keypads, a primary and back-up laptop, receivers and a VGA switch (to allow us to connect to the projection system). You need to provide a table for our 'control desk', standard 13 amp power for our laptops and a VGA connection to the projector (so that we can display the voting slides on the main screen). If you haven’t got a screen and a projector (provided by the venue or an AV company), let us know and we can add it to our quote.
No, our keypads only allow multiple-choice responses. But our wireless tablets provide free-text input (via a qwerty keyboard).
Crystal provides a full range of audience engagement services. This means that we can advise on the best solution for your specific requirements – spanning keypads, text-tablets, agenda and content design, and facilitation. We also pride ourselves on the expertise and length of service of all of our operators. This makes them a very valuable source of advice when devising questions and briefing hosts and speakers.
Lost keypads are chargeable if not returned. But we offer optional keypad insurance to protect the budget from unexpected charges. Keypads returned within seven days of an event will not be charged. We recommend that keypads are distributed to, and collected from delegates while in the meeting room, to reduce loss potential.
