Collaboration FAQs

No. We actively encourage sharing between delegates to stimulate discussion and debate. One Tablet shared between three or four works well, or even one per table.

Costs vary according to event requirements but always include three elements: set up, technology and support staff. Keypads start from £20 per head and Tablets from £35 per head. For a more accurate costing, please contact us for a no obligation quote.

The Crystal team brings its own servers and network equipment to all events, all of which are secure. Our Tablet laptops are wireless, and from them encrypted information is sent back to the server via wireless receivers. It’s a closed network and delegates can’t connect to the internet though it.

Yes. Our crew are experienced events professionals. We’ve never lost data, as nothing is stored on an individual tablet. Data is sent back to, and stored on a central server. All equipment is tested before it leaves our offices and again when it arrives on-site. We also bring back-up equipment. But if there is an issue with a specific Tablet, it will be replaced within seconds. We are also always available for full technical and client rehearsals. In the unlikely event of a power cut, lights and production elements may be affected, causing the event to be paused. But as soon as the power is resumed we would expect to be able to get the Tablets logged back onto the network.

With English accepted as the common business language, any Tablet-sharing group will include at least one person who is able to act as the scribe. Delegates having a limited command of English are more comfortable contributing in this way than having to stand up and address a large group. We do also have experience of supporting events conducted in another European language.

For highly sensitive topics, groups of 10 people may benefit from interactive technology (either Keypads or Tablets). The majority of our Tablet events are for audiences of 30-300, but we have also worked on events for 1000 delegates.

We do not dry-hire tablets or sell interactive systems. For those who are interested in learning more about our interactive processes, however, we do train experienced facilitators in the use of Crystal’s technology.

We offer as much support as is requested by the agency. If this simply means configuring and delivering Crystal technology with no added consultancy, we are happy to follow that brief.

Tablet users do not need to be familiar with a keyboard. At least one of the people sharing (at a table or small work-group) will volunteer to be the scribe. We find that delegates prefer typing comments anonymously to speaking into a microphone.

Every event has its own objectives and decision-making system. A one day event with a hands-on planning team may need half a day’s preparation. For multi-day events, or those involving several tiers of approval, planning may extend over weeks.

All inputs are captured and made available in Word document format on the day following the event. The material can then inform a wide range of internal and external communications. For consultations or larger events producing a significant amount of captured information, we work with partners to create a summary report which typically condenses 50 pages of inputs down to just 10.
